Fabrication of a novel cadmium-organic framework for detecting multiple analytes with outstanding sensitivities and selectivities

A novel 2-fold interpenetrating 3D luminescent cadmium-based metal organic framework {[Cd-2 (3-bbpa)(2) (1,3-BDC)(2)]center dot 4H(2)O} n (Cd-MOF, where 3-bbpa = N-1,N-4-di (pyridin-3-yl)fumaramide and 1,3-H2BDC = 1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid) was successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method. It is important to note that the Cd-MOF displays notable luminescence performance and stability over a wide pH range and in a variety of organic solvents. More significantly, the Cd-MOF is a strong contender for the sensitive and selective sensing of Fe3+, Cu2+, Cr2O72-, MnO4- and NB. To the best of our knowledge, the Cd-MOF was a rare example of a multi-response luminescence sensor based on metal cations, anions and toxic organic solvents of Cd-MOF-based materials.
