Bi5O7I/BiOBr type-Ⅱ heterojunction broaden the light absorption range to achieve high photocatalytic activity

In this paper, the Bi5O7I/BiOBr type-Ⅱ heterojunction was designed by combining the advantages of both Bi5O7I and BiOBr monomers. The efficiency of xBI-BOB in degrading rhodamine B could reach 99.2% within 90 min. The results show that xBI-BOB generates more electron-hole pairs under light driving and makes them separate effectively, which facilitates the degradation of the dye. Significantly, the formation of heterojunctions broadens the absorbing sideband of xBI-BOB. Meanwhile, the h+ plays a principal function in the degressive reaction study. In addition, the xBI-BOB heterojunction has good stability and reusability. The composite of similar layered materials of BiOX provides a new idea for the design of composite catalysts. In conclusion, Bi5O7I/BiOBr heterojunctions with wide optical absorption range were prepared in the paper, which offers a new thought for the construction of layered heterojunctions.
