Abstract
Here, we present the design, commissioning, and preliminary results of the Thermo-Box, a platform that can maintain a precise temperature gradient over time to perform crystallization experiments. Designed to be used in conjunction with 3D-printed microfluidic devices, the Thermo-Box is a laboratory-based unit that uses Peltier elements to generate a large temperature gradient over an area that can accommodate a dozen microfluidic devices. The use of microfluidic devices provides the ability to test multiple crystallization trials and facilitates experiments of thermally dependent processes without the use of more expensive and complex systems.
