Abstract
Magnetic ions in Kagome lattices, which can be described as a pattern of interlaced triangles and hexagons stacked together, can show frustrated magnetic behavior. Moreover, incorporating magnetic dimers into the Kagome lattice may induce additional exotic quantum phenomena. Herein, we identify a previously unreported type of magnetic lattice, showing that the structural dimers of magnetic MnO4 tetrahedra in the crystal structure of Ba5Mn3O12Cl are arranged in Kagome planes. This material exhibits a change in its magnetic state at similar to 3.7 K and a heat capacity anomaly near 1.15 K that is sensitive to the applied field. Several metamagnetic transitions are also observed. Ba5Mn3O12Cl may therefore be a platform for studying the magnetism of dimers on Kagome lattices.
