Accurately quantifying the commercial value of microgrid projects will help the microgrid operator participate in the power market competition and promote the sustainable development of the microgrid applications. Based on the cost-benefit theory, a total factor stochastic price model of microgrid sold/purchase electricity to/from power market is established, which can characterize and evaluate the commercial value of microgrid projects. Furthermore, based on the constraint conditions analysis for microgrid participating in the power market, the decision-making process for microgrid configuration scheme is put forward. Combined with case study and learning curve, it is found that the three key parameters have particular impacts on the price level of microgrid participating in the power market. The proposed commercial value quantification model and configuration scheme decision process provide helpful tools for enterprises to optimize the business mode, confirm reasonable investment scale, and enhance the market competitiveness of microgrid projects.
