Abstract
This paper presents the work to evaluate the power efficiency performance of a DC/DC series-series resonates converter at different resonant frequencies for electrical vehicle dynamic charging applications. A power loss breakdown study is performed in PLECS circuit simulation to identify the components contributing to significant power loss. The simulation and measurement results are compared for both alignment and misalignment operation conditions for three resonant frequencies at 45 kHz, 65 kHz, and 85 kHz. The effect of the operation frequency on wireless charging system efficiency and performance is analyzed for dynamic EV charging applications. From the analytical calculation and experimental study, the conclusion is made that operating DC/DC converter at a high resonant frequency can significantly improve the power transfer efficiency and power output capability of the wireless charging system at the misaligned position in the dynamic EV wireless charging process.
