Abstract
The results of tests for wear resistance of an identical material friction pair consisting of structural steel grade CSN 16532 whose surface was alloyed with copper by the method of ion implantation are presented. The tests were carried out at a pressure of 250 MPa without a lubricant. It was shown that under steady state friction wear resistance of steel with implanted copper ions with the dose of 1·1017 ion/cm2 increases by 2 times, and with a dose of 5·1017 ion/cm2 - by 1.5 times. The process of structural changes in the area of surface contact plastic deformation is described. The "effect of long-range action" as a result of ion irradiation of steel is discussed.
