From European Legislation to Its Implementation in Italy Between Past and Present

This chapter aims to comprehensively trace the time path of European legislation on waste management evolution. In the same vein, the historical framework of the transposition of European legislation in Italy will be presented, highlighting how the Italian legislation on waste management has imposed more ambitious targets, in quantitative and temporal terms, than those proposed by European Directives.
