Chemical looping technology is promising in methane conversion. The redox catalyst acts as an intermediate for the transport of energy and oxygen between different reactors, which is crucial for chemical looping methane conversion processes.The reaction between carbon intermediates and oxygen species over the surface of the redox catalyst is the core step in chemical looping methane conversion.The kinetic rates of surface oxygen consumption and bulk oxygen diffusion are critical to determine the surface oxygen concentration or the oxygen vacancy concentration on redox catalysts during the chemical looping reaction.The coupling mechanism between surface reaction and bulk oxygen diffusion should be quantitatively investigated to promote the reaction performance for chemical looping methane conversion processes.
