Abstract
The force rheological polishing (FRP) technology is a new non-contact ultra-precision polishing method utilizing the nonlinear rheological properties of non-Newtonian fluid. To further improve the polishing efficiency and surface quality, a vibration-assisted force rheological polishing (VFRP) method is proposed in this research. The material removal rate (MRR) and surface roughness $\boldsymbol{S}_{\boldsymbol{a}}$ were used as evaluation conditions to analyze the effects of three key parameters, including polishing speed, vibration frequency, and amplitude on the polishing characteristics of stainless steel. The experiment was designed based on the Taguchi method, the S/N was used to evaluate the experimental results and the optimized process parameters were obtained, and the weight of each factor was obtained by variance analysis method. Under the optimized combination of polishing parameters, VFRP can effectively improve the polishing efficiency and workpiece surface quality.
