Abstract
Dominant discharge is one of the most important concerns of geomorphologists, hydraulic engineers and other earth scientists but its definition is not very clear. Data on discharge, gauge height and sediment load of the Tilga gauge station of the Sankh River (India) collected from a secondary source was processed to estimate dominant discharge in terms of discharge, gauge height and maximum sediment load-carrying discharge. The study found that through the trapezoidal cross-profile at the gauge station, the 99th percentile of discharge lies below the half-depth of the channel while 99
