Dual-Input Three Phase Split-Source Inverter

Abstract
This paper proposes dual-input configuration based on the well-known three-phase split-source inverter (SSI); it is denoted as DSSI. The proposed configuration can process the power from two input sources individually or simultaneously, while maintaining the brilliant features of the single-input configuration of SSI. These features include the voltage boosting capability, utilizing low number of semiconductors, and continuity of the input current. Furthermore, independent power processing from each input is realized. These benefits make the proposed topology suitable for distributed energy systems such as Photovoltaic and Fuel-Cell systems. The modulation strategy of DSSI is illustrated. Simple control system is designed. MATLAB/SIMULINK software is used to verify the performance of the proposed topology. An experimental test bench is also established to evaluate the proposed topology operation.
