Abstract
Establishing the detailed transient models with consistent fault response characteristics of the actual new energy generation units is the basic problem in analyzing modern power systems with large-scale renewable energy accessed power grid. The complete low voltage ride-through (LVRT) processes of the renewable energy model are illustrated and analyzed based on the LVRT grid standards and a large number of actual data fitting studies. The active and reactive power response curves and realization schemes of these renewable energy generators during the LVRT are proposed through the analysis of their common features. And the above strategies are utilized in the double fed induction generator (DFIG), permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG), and the photovoltaic (PV) power generation unit model, correspondingly. The investigations have shown that the fault responses of those models proposed in this paper are well matched with the measured data, and the accuracies met the requirements of the modeling guidelines of the wind turbine and PV unit simulation models. Thus, the validity of the proposed model has been verified.
