In-Band RCS Reduction Technique of Waveguide Slot Array Antenna based on AMC and PEC Chessboard Structure

The stealth of antenna at operating frequency is very difficult, because most RCS reduction measures will affect the radiation performance of antenna. In this paper, a chessboard structure which combines artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) and perfect electric conductor (PEC) is designed for in-band RCS reduction of waveguide slot array antenna. The radiation characteristics of the antenna loaded with chessboard structure is compared with that of the original antenna to prove the in-band RCS reduction performance of this structure. The simulation results of HFSS show when the incident wave is perpendicular to the antenna surface, the RCS compression can reach more than 30dB near the center frequency of 9.6GHz, and the radiation characteristics of the antenna array are maintained.
