Tandem triumphs in PVC upcycling

The current consequences of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) waste are bleak and far reaching, and PVC is incompatible with traditional re-cycling processes. In recent issues of the Journal of Materials Chem-istry A and Nature Chemistry, the groups of Fieser and McNeil, respectively, present complementary approaches to upcycling PVC waste on the basis of tandem catalysis.
