Abstract
One approach to designing the switched converter control is to determine the converter frequency response (i.e., bode diagram) by direct measurement or dedicated simulation. The last option is preferred because it reduces development time and cost. Moreover, several circuit simulators (e.g., Ltspice ® ) lack a tool for generating nonlinear circuit bode plots. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a simulation procedure to generate the bode plots of these type of circuits, which is based on the Middlebrook approach, MATLAB ® and Simulink ® . The proposed procedure is validated by a case study based on a conventional DC/DC Boost converter. The theoretical, simulated, and experimental results were consistent, allowing validation of the proposed method. This paper was written using a tutorial approach to motivate the junior engineers to design the converter control using CAD tools instead of the “experiment trial-error” approach.
