Oxidative balance scores and depressive symptoms: Mediating effects of oxidative stress and inflammatory factors

•Higher oxidative stress score (OBS) was associated with lower odds of depressive symptoms.•Oxidative stress and inflammatory markers might partially mediate the association between OBS and depressive symptoms.•Preventive interventions for depression should be considered in terms of diet and lifestyle antioxidants.
