•Patient and disease characteristics of outpatient tisagenlecleucel recipients include a lower comorbidity burden and lower disease burden compared to inpatient recipients.•There were no differences in 30-day nonrelapse mortality, progression-free survival, and overall survival between outpatients and inpatients.•Outpatient therapy is desirable for optimal inpatient resource utilization, financial sustainability for healthcare systems, as well as patient convenience.
