Chemical Constituents of the Fruits of Cordia dichotoma

Objective:To study the chemical constituents from the fruits of Cordia dichotoma.Methods:The ethyl acetate part of Cordia dichotoma fruits was isolated and purified by normal silica gel column chromatography,Sephadex LH-20 gel column chromatography,semi-preparative HPLC and other separation methods,the structures were identified by modern spectroscopy(UV,IR,MS,NMR).Results:Sixteen compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate part of Cordia dichotoma fruits and identified as p-hydroxybenzaldehyde(1),pandanusphenol B(2),latifolicinin C(3),lyciumin(4),latifolicinin B(5),threo-1,2-bis-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-propane-1,3-diol(6),salicofoliol(7),zhebeiresinol(8),evofolin B(9),isoferulic acid(10),85-(-)-8-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoyl)-dihydrofuran-8(8’H)-one(11),salicylic acid(12),3-formylindole(13),3-hydroxylacetyl-indole(14),1 H-indole-3-carboxylic acid(15),(1 H-indol-3-yl)oxoacetamide(16),respectively.Conclusion:Among them,compounds 1,2,4,6 to 16 are isolated from Cordia genus for the first time,compounds 3 and 5 are isolated from Cordia dichotoma for the first time.
