Zeolite@-Ag-S-CH2-COOH catalyzed synthesis of bis-cyclohexenones and their antibacterial evaluation and molecular docking study

In the present study, novel zeolite@Ag-S-CH2-COOH as an eco-friendly catalyst was synthesized and ex-plored in the reaction of aryl aldehydes and dimedone for the synthesis of bis-cyclohexenones in ex-cellent yields. The synthesized zeolite@Ag-S-CH2-COOH could be easily recovered and recycled for five successive runs without significant loss in catalytic activity and product yield. This eco-friendly approach offers several advantages such as the use of a green solvent system, mild reaction conditions, shorter reaction times, excellent yield, and easy separation of the catalyst. In addition, the antibacterial activity of synthesized bis-cyclohexanones was evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli com-pared to the standard and further supported by a docking study.(c) 2023 Elsevier B.V.
