摘要

•The MB method is validated as suitable to characterize the dynamics of Fe0/H2O systems.•The extent of Fe0 corrosion in the investigated systems was traced with the MB method.•In-situ generated iron corrosion products are the real PO43– removing agents (scavengers).•Mixing aggregates (sand and MnO2) with Fe0 is found to be efficient for PO43– removal.
