Reconstructing the spectrum of human-plant interactions in two pre-Hispanic populations in Central Chile (Southern Andes). A case of study utilizing microfossils recovered from dental calculus

•We reconstructed the spectrum of wild vegetal species consumed by prehistoric populations using microfossils recovered from dental calculus.•Some of the wild species detected, were not detected previously by other archaeobotanical methods.•The spectrum recovered allowed us to evaluate changes and continuities on the subsistence systems of different prehistoric populations.
