Abstract
-This paper presents fault diagnosis scheme for inverter switches based on open-circuit faults in PMSM drive using current control prediction (CCP) method. The scheme depends on fault recognition. The predictive control is used for closed loop operation as well as it can be utilized for fault detection, measuring the impact of OCFs on signature current analysis with the help of cost function. Besides monitoring PMSM drive characteristics, it can be used to differentiate several types of faults in the drive system. Based on mathematical analysis of fault in different cases, various categories of faults can be recognized. The significant advantage of the proposed control method is that it excludes PI controller application in current, generally utilized in Field Oriented Control (FOC). The proposed method is validated via MATLAB/Simulink and verified by using small-scale experimental setup DSPACE DS1104 real-time controller at a frequency of 10 kHz.
