摘要
The goal of this article is to compare the effects of embedding permanent magnets (PMs) in the topology of switched reluctance motors (SRMs). To this end, two different types of hybrid reluctance motors (HRMs) with C-type and E-type cores are investigated. In these topologies, the PMs are placed in the stator structure, and the rotor is of exterior type. The main contribution of the PMs in the compared HRMs is to enlarge the torque density without adding complexity to the stator structure. To verify the performances of the HRMs, finite element method (FEM) is used. The results are obtained in case of flux vectors, flux densities, flux linkage, torque, and cogging torque. It is shown that inserting PMs enhances torque to a noticeable extent. Moreover, the C-type HRM offers higher average and maximum torques compared to E-type HRM. Moreover, it is shown that by using PMs a negligible cogging torque is created in both structures, where that of the C-core HRM is much smaller than that of the E-core HRM.
