Optimum Efficiency and Maximum Possible Power Transfer Analysis of Double-Vehicle Wireless Charging System

The role of Dynamic Wireless Power Transmission (DWPT) in charging electric vehicles has been expanded in recent years. Nevertheless, system performance is still a major challenge. Due to the rising temperature of the earth and the related concerns, the optimal use of energy has played a significant role. In this paper, by adjusting the duty cycle of the DC-DC buck converter on the receiver’s side, we increase the level of WPT and optimize the system efficiency in different operating conditions by tuning the primary inverter frequency. Since the transmission of wireless power to several separate electric vehicles is inevitable in near future, the formula and control procedure of the DWPT system with dual independent receivers have been comprehensively studied in this paper. By achieving the required equations for the proposed model, it is observed that the efficiency of the system depends on several parameters such as synchronicity factor, resonant frequency and output demanded power. Therefore, a control scheme is proposed in which the duty ratio of the secondary side converter’s buck and the primary inverter frequency are adjusted simultaneously to obtain the optimum performance independent to each other. The control method used in this paper leads to the maximum efficiency of the DWPT system.
