Abstract
The Integrated Energy System (IES) integrates a variety of energy forms such as electricity, gas, and heating. Due to different network operation modes of various energy sources and complex coupling relationship, IES simulation studies face practical challenges. In this regard, a co-simulation approach is desirable which coordinates existing simulation codes from individual domain. A multi-rate co-simulation method is proposed with electrical network EMT-type transient simulation and gas-heat network dynamic simulation using different simulation steps. A high-speed communication module is designed to interact and exchange data between electrical, gas and heating network simulation processes. For improved universality of the co-simulation approach, the communication module is implemented based on Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) standard and accommodates multi-rate simulation. The co-simulation environment designed has been tested on a case study that is derived from real IES projects. The simulation results demonstrate the coupled operation, and verifies the function of the simulation platform.
