摘要
Low-power wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of a large number of battery-operated sensors deployed over an area for objectives such as monitoring environments, tracking objects, and controlling various industrial operations. The aggregation of the huge amount of data generated from the explosively growing number of sensors is critical and challenging. Optimizing the energy spending and improving the overall lifetime of the network through efficient data aggregation and compression approaches are open problems in low-power WSNs. A major portion of the energy consumption of sensor nodes is contributed by data transmission. Hence, efficient data aggregation schemes are to be deployed to improve the lifetime of the WSNs. This paper evaluates the efficient data aggregation frameworks for low-power WSNs.
