Estimation of Thermal Aging of Epoxy-Alumina Nano-Composites for Dry-Type High Voltage Insulation Using Dielectric Modulus

In this paper, a novel technique has been proposed to estimate the thermal aging of the epoxy-alumina nano-composites (EPANC) insulation using dielectric modulus. For this purpose, FDS test is conducted on EPANC samples aged (thermally) at 100°C for 100, 200, 300, and 400 hours, respectively. From the FDS data, frequency variation of dielectric modulus has been calculated. Based on the complex dielectric modulus three aging-sensitive parameters have been estimated. Using three aging sensitive parameters, the aging state of the epoxy-alumina nano-composites has been estimated.
