Abstract
The construction of UHVDC transmission project is an effective means to solve the problem of energy transmission in China. UHV converter transformer is the key equipment in UHV power transmission project. Its cost is nearly RMB. The manufacturing cycle can be as long as several months. The single transport weight can reach hundreds of tons, and the transport distance can reach thousands of kilometres. In the early stage of UHVDC transmission project, users used to concern about the operation performance and economy of UHVDC converter transformer, which is the basis to ensure the operation reliability of the project and save the project investment. With the global warming, the traditional energy industry's understanding of carbon constraints is increasing, and the requirements of low-carbon design in the whole life cycle of UHV converter transformer are increasing. In this research, a ± 800kV UHV converter transformer is taken as an example to calculate its carbon footprint in the whole life cycle. Based on the background of low-carbon economy, this paper puts forward the environmental index as the design optimization condition, and gives the calculation method. The conclusions of this research can be applied to the carbon accounting and energy saving and emission reduction of UHV transmission project, and lay the foundation for green manufacturing of power equipment.
