摘要
In our recent work, we discovered that extracellular vesicle messenger RNA levels are extensively altered during pregnancy in euthymic women who go on to develop postpartum depression. These alterations are associated with a reduction in the process of autophagy, which is involved in removing defective ribosomes and mitochondria, prior to the onset of postpartum depression. As ribosomes are responsible for mRNA quality control, we investigated whether the loss of autophagy impacts splicing of extracellular vesicle mRNAs.
