Iron deficiency (ID) is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world. In the brain, iron is implicated in monoaminergic signaling, dendritic structural development and maintenance, and myelination. We sought to examine the relationship between peripheral iron status, brain iron stores, and psychiatric symptom severity in adolescent females with internalizing disorders.
