摘要
In our recent review [ 1. Månsson J. et al. Understanding and overcoming obstacles in adaptive management. Trends Ecol. Evol. 2023; 38: 55-71 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (3) Google Scholar ], we found that several obstacles often prevent successful implementation of adaptive management (AM), despite the fact that it is being widely promoted and deemed applicable in management of both scarce and abundant natural resources. Obstacles associated with the AM process per se, the ecosystem where AM is applied, or governance of the latter, may all come to play a more significant role in the future due to increased uncertainty in the wake of climate change and other anthropogenic drivers. Hence, it is necessary to build capacities to strengthen the AM process, including those in legal and institutional systems that enable necessary flexibility in the governance system to cope with uncertainty and changed management goals.
