Abstract
This paper describes the preparation and analysis of a new insulation composite material suitable for high-voltage applications. The material was characterized using Fourier transform infrared and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, which revealed the presence of SiO 2 , confirming the successful integration of the matrix (polyester) and reinforcement material (celite filler). XRD also showed that the crystalline behavior of the composite changed as the proportion of epoxy and celite varied. Additionally, electrical characterization was conducted using ASTM D-149 and D-257, and it was found that an increase in the environmental temperature and humidity had a negative effect on the dielectric and resistivity properties of the composite. These results were both experimentally determined and theoretically verified by a one-dimensional finite element model. The results also showed that 5% celite composition is suitable for making ignition coil insulations, as it meets Indian and Japanese Industrial Standards.
