An Energy-Aware Algorithm for Changing Tree Structure and Process Migration in the Flexible Tree-Based Fog Computing Model.

Since the IoT consumes a huge amount of electrical energy due to the scalability, it is critical to reduce the energy consumed by nodes. In the FTBFC (Flexible Tree-Based Fog Computing) model proposed in our previous studies, fog nodes are structured in a tree. Here, operations to change the tree structure of fog nodes and make application processes migrate among parent and child nodes are proposed to reduce the total energy consumption. In this paper, we newly propose an FTBFC algorithm to flexibly change the tree structure and processes supported by nodes to reduce the total energy consumption of the nodes. In the evaluation, we show the total energy consumption can be reduced by changing the tree in the FTBFC model.
