A Deterministic Communication Technique in the 5G-Adv/6G Access Network Systems.

Besides the high reliability and low latency, the deterministic services in the 5G-Adv/6G systems also require the low jitter. The integration of 5G with TSN has been standardized in 3GPP Release16, and enhanced in Release17 in order to support the deterministic communication. However, the 5G-TSN system is still in infancy, and has not been widely deployed. In this paper, we propose a novel deterministic communication technique in the 5G-Adv/6G radio access networks in order to eliminate the jitter. At first, the granularity and reference start time of the data forwarding time are determined by the gNB and informed to UE. Then, the data forwarding time is derived considering the scheduling information and processing capability, then delivered to UE in case of downlink transmission. At the receiver side, the received data should be forwarded from MAC layer to the higher layer at the determined data forwarding time. In this scheme, the jitter caused by the differences of gNB processing delay, UE processing delay, and intra-slot TTI alignment delay can be eliminated with a slight increasing of transmission latency. The performance evaluation by using the results from the 5G networks in our lab also verifies our conclusion.
