•An actual DML-based MB-OFDM UWBoF system was constructed and investigated.•The ISFA algorithm is applied to improve the SNR and channel estimation accuracy of the DML-based MB-OFDM UWBoF system.•OCT precoding is employed to average the SNR of DML-based MB-OFDM UWBoF systems.
