Synergetic analysis between polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and coal in chemical looping combustion (CLC)

•The reaction of PVC and coal with Cu-based oxygen carrier in CLC was investigated.•The migration of chlorine in the solid form was evaluated.•The modification of iron ore and chrysolite avoided the reaction of CuO with HCl.•HCl could be preferred to react with calcium in Cu-based oxygen carriers.•The addition of coal promoted the complete reaction of PVC CLC.
