Abstract
In this paper, various bio-polymer coatings were applied on the surface of AM60 magnesium alloys through 3D-printing. These coatings were from different polymeric filaments of polylactic acid (PLA), polycaprolactone (PCL), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG). Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was utilized to investigate the bio-degradation of fabricated coatings in the simulated body fluid. EIS measurements illustrated that the highest impedance was related to the PCL-T (transparent version) and PLA coatings. However, the increase in the impedance of all bio-coatings compared to the magnesium alloy was about 63.1-99.7%.
