摘要
Added resistance of ships has close relation to issues of oil consumption and green-house gas emissions. In this paper, first order hydrodynamic problem is computed using the three-dimensional translating and pulsating source (3DTPS) method. The total added resistance is decomposed into added resistance due to ship motions and added resistance due to wave reflection. Added resistance due to ship motions is calculated using the three-dimensional radiated energy method (3D-REM). Component analysis in this method is conducted. Added resistance due to wave reflection is calculated using the empirical formula. The property and physical meaning of R function in the formula are explained. Numerical results show that the radiated energy method is generally validated in long waves while the empirical formula can be applied in short waves. In medium waves, reasonable results of total added resistance can be obtained through a combined computation with properly selected R function. Finally, a piecewise formula is proposed to compute total added resistance in overall wavelength re-gions. Computational results of the present formula show good agreement with the experimental data.
