Differential two-wave mixing interferometer for crack detection in metallic structures based on laser-induced ultrasound

•Differential processing is adopted to improve the detection sensitivity and the signal to noise ratio.•The phase, amplitude and frequency of the measured laser-induced ultrasound signal can be obtained in-line.•The ultrasound is non-contacted generated and distant detected to characterize the cracks in metallic structures.
