Abstract
•Separation of a linear α-olefin by alkali metal-exchanged faujasites was studied.•Si/Al ratio and cation type cooperatively influenced 1-octene adsorption.•Lithium low-silica X showed the highest 1-octene/n-octane separation efficiency.•Excellent 1-octene selectivity was explained by cation–π interactions.
