Abstract
This article proposes an analysis of the commutation torque ripple of the reconfigurable three-phase open-end winding permanent magnet brushless DC motor (OEW-BLDC) driven by the dual inverter configuration with equal dc-link voltage. In the dual inverter-based OEW-BLDC motor with 12° commutation mode, the commutation torque pulsation occurs every 6° when a current shifts from one phase to another. In this study, a thorough analysis of the current commutation technique and commutation period of the OEWBLDC motor illustrates to understand the torque ripple and motor speed characteristic. Performance in the OEW-BLDC drive has been studied by simulating a MATLAB Simulink environment.
