Highly efficient electrooxidation of ethanol on CuPtPd trimetallic catalyst

Pt-based ternary metal catalysts have excellent catalytic performance and high stability for ethanol oxidation. Many hollow nanosphere are uniformly distributed on the surface of Cu-Pt-Pd catalysts. In various Cu-Pt-Pd catalysts, the peak current density and the mass activity of Cu-Pt1Pd3.2 are 166.7 mA⋅cm−2 and 2436 mA⋅mgPt+Pd-1 for EOR, which are 13.4 times and 8.1 times as those of commercial Pt/C catalysts. The Cu-Pt1Pd3.2 also exhibits excellent CO toxicity resistance. The strong interaction and synergistic effect among Cu, Pt and Pd would enhance its electro-catalytic activity. The above research results will be potential useful value in expanding application fields of Pt-based ternary metal catalysts.
