Development of novel fluorescent probes to detect and quantify specific reactive oxygen species

•Novel fluorescent probe based on pyridine-coumarin were synthetized successfully.•Probe displays fluorescence turn-on response in the presence of H2O2.•It offer good performances in terms of sensitivity and response time.•Cytotoxicity studies on various model cell lines proved the non-toxic activity of the tested sensor.
