Abstract
We investigated inspiratory pressure threshold loading-induced respiratory muscle damage using a skeletal muscle damage biomarkers panel. Our investigation showed that creatine kinase muscle-type, and fast skeletal troponin I could be used to assess respiratory muscle damage immediately (1 h), whereas creatine kinase muscle-type, and slow skeletal troponin I could be used to assess respiratory muscle damage 24 and 48 h following conditions that cause elevated inspiratory muscle work.
