Abstract
English has become the hegemonic language of prestigious scientific publications and minority languages have been relegated to the shadows. In order for them to achieve a status in the academic field, it is recommended a systematization of the characteristics of the discursive genres for the dissemination of knowledge. This study analyzes the characteristics of abstracts. It is a mixed study based on Swales' movements theory (1990) and a study of the linguistic features. The results show that, in general, there is no homogeneity, although some trends have been identified. These results help to identify new challenges in the institutionalization of Basque as a language for scientific dissemination.
