Compact Six-Port Out-of-Phase Power Divider With Reduced Amplitude Imbalance

This paper presents a compact six-port power divider that performs two independent out-of-phase divisions with small amplitude imbalance between the output ports. The power divider was composed of a hybrid ring with a circumferential length of one guided wavelength lambda(g) and non-uniform characteristic impedance. The scattering matrix of this power divider was derived analytically, and the characteristic impedance of each segment of the ring was determined to minimize the amplitude imbalance. A power divider with a non-uniform stripline ring and operating at 2.45GHz was designed. Reduced amplitude imbalance was observed during electromagnetic simulation with the new design.
