Abstract
This study aimed to assess knowledge, attitude, and pattern of use of Coenzyme Q10 supplements (CoQ10) among chronic cardiac patients. This was a cross-sectional study where 134 patients were conveniently sampled from 169 patients based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. This study was conducted using a pre-validated, self-administered questionnaire, designed after an extensive literature review. Study subjects had poor knowledge about CoQ10 usage (mean knowledge score=1.8, SD=3.131) and majority had negative attitude (n= 87, 64.9%) towards CoQ10 usage. This study found a strong positive correlation between the knowledge and attitude scores (r=0.776, p<0.05). Elderly and high incomed patients had higher knowledge and positive attitude scores compared to the rest (p=0.041). The poor knowledge and negative attitude towards CoQ10 emphasized the role of healthcare providers especially pharmacists to increase awareness about the benefits of CoQ10 among chronic cardiac patients.
