Fabrication and characterization of Ti-33Nb-4Sn alloys by cryomilling and spark plasma sintering

In this study, Ti-33Nb-4Sn alloy has been prepared by cryomilling and spark plasma sintering. The phase composition, microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion behavior of sintered compacts were sys-tematically investigated. Results revealed that the alloy sintered at 1050 degrees C mainly consisted of beta-phase and a small amount of alpha phase, achieving a high tensile strength of-927 MPa with a strain of 12% and a low Young's modulus of-63 GPa. Further electrochemical tests indicate that the alloy prepared at 1050 degrees C also has good corrosion resistance in Ringer's solution.
