Abstract
Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is believed to play a vital role for connected intelligence in 6G. This paper provides a study of electromagnetic (EM) scattering model in the ISAC propagation channel. First of all, the scattering propagation mechanisms are studied. Then, we propose a novel scattering model coupling with incident angles, frequency and roughness, which verified by implementing a measurement campaign with typical materials in an anechoic chamber. Furthermore, the proposed model is applied to evaluate the environmental reconstruction ratio (RR) as a key performance indicator (KPI) in ISAC applications. In particular, this study provide an assessment method for sensing coverage in 6G, which is difficult to achieve by the traditional channel model. Finally, we discuss the possibility by integrating the scattering model into existed channel model to evaluate the ISAC performance effectively.
